Welcome to BANAOS
Banstead and Nork Amateur Operatic Society has been established since 1928, it is a thriving and friendly group of singers, dancers and actors from all walks of life.
We perform two productions each year;  the spring show is a fully staged musical at either Epsom Playhouse or the Adrian Mann Theatre whilst the autumn production is usually a pantomime or variety show at Banstead Community Hall.

We are passionate about the value of amateur theatre to the local community and now in our 80th Anniversary, hope that we can count on public support to continue to provide local, value for money, entertainment to young and old.

New members are always welcome.

For the younger performers,  we have a Junior Section of the Company called BANJOS, more information can be found here

Our last show was a great success
‘ANNIE’

  18-21 May 2016

Congratulations to Dawn, Francis Griffin and all the cast and those who helped for this most original production!

The Sardines Reviewer said:

This was a confident, entertaining production in the comfortable surroundings of the Adrian Mann Theatre.... The all-important child cast charmed the audience and were extremely well-rehearsed, at ease when singing and dancing and always in role. In the title role, Emilia Aris was exceptionally impressive for a performer of her age, able to cope not just with a lengthy part involving singing and dancing, but also a sometimes unpredictable dog and the inevitable unexpected events of a live performance. This young performer should go far...The three-piece band under Musical Director, Francis Griffin, played well throughout and gave a good account of the score. ... (Dawn) is to be congratulated on this latest BANAOS production of Annie which deserves full houses for the rest of the run.

  ‘Made in Dagenham’

  16-20 May 2017

See our Future Shows Page

This promises to be a great show and there is already a lot of interest …… watch this space for audition dates!

Made in Dagenham is a musical with music by David Arnold, lyrics by Richard Thomas, and a book by Richard Bean. Based on the 2010 film of the same name, which in turn was based on the real events of the Ford sewing  machinists strike of 1968, the musical made its West End and world premiere at the Adelphi Theatre in 2014.

The lead role is Rita, a working woman and mother who becomes a union leader amidst the strike, despite the wishes of her husband and children, who feel neglected by her focus on labour issues. Great musical numbers - of interest to both male and female soloists, and chorus.
